Alicia’s life has gotten rather complicated, as she had to flee Earth and make a new start. She didn’t want to play the political games with the rulers of Earth, to submit to their overbearing control, or to even fight back. She chose a different path and went her own way.
It’s a month later, and the first batch of scientists have just arrived on Minerva station. She has many issues to face trying to establish and run a new world. If that wasn’t difficult enough, she also has some challenges from without.
Unfortunately for Alicia, Earth’s leadership has a hard time letting go of things.

A bit short but otherwise a fitting continuation and conclusion to the series. We witness communication with the Drenil, relationships are moved along, and Alicia faces finally the ill advised choices she made to share advanced technology with an immature species. We even find out who the seeders are. Harrison doesn't close any doors (not even the one about kids), but says this wraps it up, and I'd agree.[not quite a spoiler but ...] I wonder if any of you notice the symmetry between what Alicia has done in the last two novels, and what the Drenil do in this one? Harrison says he is not political and only represents Earth government generically as power grabbers. But there seems to me to be a subtle commentary on trying to elevate others too fast, which some nations in the world currently do, but which is thought to be harmful (e.g. prime directives of Star Trek and SG-1). Harrison in this series lays out the case for pursuing technology as rapidly as possible (in self defense, more or less) and how it might backfire.

Minerva An Alicia Jones Novel 06 eBook D L Harrison Reviews
I've really enjoyed the whole series and would recommend it for any fans of sci-fi. I look forward to reading other books by this author.
I enjoyed this book and the whole series. The author has said this is the last book planned for the series and if this is true I will miss this series. There is resolution but also a lot of potential in the threads left hanging. I hope that after a while she takes up the series again.
I like the character.
And the series kind of reminds me of Perry Rhodan series - and i like that.
But the book was so short. Next time i will not pre-order and check out the page count before buying.
This is the last of the Alicia Jones Series and all I can say is that it is about time. Over the last couple of books you can see them really losing steam and the author seemed to be struggling with new scenarios for the characters.
I thought this series would be a little different, it was and anyone who is a hard SciFi buff, I am sorry to say but you can forget about this series.
This novel keeps pace with the previous Jones stories. I like the free-wheeling, probable science of the series as well as the action. If you have read the previous installments, you will not be disappointed with this one. If not, you can still pick up the story but when done, my bet is you will start with novel 01.
And showing just how stupid the earth can be. Alice finds her answers to the questions she’s asked many times and she finds happiness it’s just to bad the earth couldn’t learn the same. Overall he could have ended this series at least 2 stories ago but I’m glad he didn’t mostly.
This series could also be a great story for spin offs and even seeing where the worlds have gone and the changes made but hopefully he doesn’t screw them like so many others if he does...
The end was certainly complete. Author says there's no more planned, and I don't see how you come back from that.
For some reason this book felt like the last time you see a friend before graduating or moving away... you want it to be a happy moment but it's all just really depressing. There was no great bang at the end. Just a slow departure as the series waves goodbye. The author seems to acknowledge this in her afterword. It was a political story that was more necessary than fun.
-126 pages / about 3 hours
-It is very much like all the Alicia Jones books, but there's no more buildup or wonder... it's closing time for the series.
-What little extra developments/abilities/etc. occur have little page time or significance to the story
-I respect the author's decision to firmly close the door on the series and give an extra star for sticking to it.
-If you like the series, you need to see it to the end. I have no regrets buying this.
Not the final story I wanted/expected to read but then again I'm not the author and don't get to choose. It was a very valid and complete end. I appreciate that closure.
